Our Mission

Our efforts are aimed at improving the capabilities of our partner sites on Ebeye and Majuro through medical personnel “foreign exchange” and expert education, both in-person and through telehealth platforms.

Education

Through the generous efforts of volunteers and financial backers we are laying plans for training workshops, with a current focus on EMS and in-hospital emergency medicine. One near-term goal is to foster exchange programs for healthcare practitioners to learn from each other by working together in the RMI and traveling to learn from experts in the United States. Our second group of resident physicians will be traveling to Majuro in March, 2025.

Social services

Access to safe drinking water is a basic human right, much of the population of the RMI is lacking this necessity. Dysentery is a recurrent and preventable issue with often tragic consequences for children and babies. Through the generous tax-deductible donations of our supporters, we hope soon to provide remote communities with reliable solar powered and passive water filtration systems.

Telemedicine

One of the largest barriers to administration of health care in the Marshall Islands is its remote location. The population is spread throughout the 1,200 islands in 750,000 sq miles of ocean. Triage and transportation costs are a continual strain on the health system budget. Low-bandwidth telemedicine devices coupled with newly acquired access to satellite internet can help the emergency response teams decide when and where their resources are best spent. We are currently pursuing options to bring these devices to the areas which need them the most.

We aim for sustainable change. That means expanding the existing capabilities of our partners in the RMI to the point where they no longer need outside support. This goal can only be accomplished with your help.
